Temporary Resident Visa - TRV
A tourist visa is an official document affixed to your passport, signifying your eligibility to enter Canada for leisure or tourism purposes. Typically valid for a period of up to 5 years, this visa allows a maximum stay of 6 months in the country.
The application process involves several key steps:
Document Preparation, to apply, submit essential documents to Immigration Canada, including a valid passport, a clear criminal record, documents verifying ties to your home country (such as employment records, property ownership, and family documents), evidence of financial capability (account balance and statements), details of previous travel history, and an invitation letter if applicable.
Application Submission, register your prepared documents online or on paper with Immigration Canada, incurring a registration fee ranging from $100 to $300.
Biometric Processing, undergo biometric processing at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) in your country or another location. Once your biometric file is received, the case review process begins. It's important to note that if you provide fingerprints, your information will be retained in the immigration system for up to 10 years, eliminating the need for repeated submissions during this period.
Case Review, following fingerprinting and confirmation, the Immigration Office initiates the review process. The duration varies by country of origin, with processing times ranging from 18 to 272 days.
Passport Collection, if your application is accepted, your passport will be sent to the Visa Application Centre (VAC) to affix the visa.
Trip Preparation, ensure you have proof and an acceptance letter during your journey. Upon arrival in Canada, the Canadian Border Officer may adjust your length of stay, but typically, visitors can stay for up to 6 months.
