Post Graduation Work Permit - PGWP
The Post Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) is a work permit granted to graduate students upon completion of their studies, enabling them to work in Canada on a full-time, part-time, or self-employed basis.
The permit's duration ranges from 8 months to 3 years.
To be eligible for this work permit, you must meet the following conditions.
Your study permit remains valid after graduation.
You have applied for a work/temporary residence permit before the study permit expiration date.
The work duration in Canada should not exceed the standard set for students.
If you already have a study permit when applying for a PGWP, you have two options.
Leave Canada and apply for a new PGWP from abroad.
Renew your study permit, simultaneously applying for a new study permit and paying for both ($605).
Additionally, it's worth noting that the spouse of a PGWP applicant can apply for an Open Work visa, allowing them to work full time (40 hours per week) in Canada.
